Arriving in Palermo

Arriving of the overnight ferry from Naples now in Sicily/Palermo
There I was sitting outside an Italian McDonald’s waiting for it to open at 9:00 when the time was about 7:00 am. The ferry had arrived at 6.15am and everyone was off it at about 6.40 am. We were relaxing and playing games until 11:00 which is when the owner of the apartment would let us come over to go inside and settle in.

The rest of the day was unpacking and resting until finally at 8:00 pm I dropped off to sleep after having a delicious dinner at a place called Ethnic across the road (literally!). These are photos of Palermo from lots of different days!

Naples museum

After getting the train from Roma to Naples we stopped somewhere on the way and stayed at a hotel that night. National Archaeological Museum. It had heaps of mosaics that had been dug out and gathered from Pompeii and brought in to the town of Naples. Where they tile by tile fixed all the ruined pieces of mosaics that had been destroyed by Vesuvius, which also killed everyone who lived there and covered the whole city.  The Museum also had loads of marble sculptures where people had carved a model for years and years. Day by day they carved and chiseled the marble until they made a masterpiece.

Ice skating in a nearby village to Monttotone called Fermo

The last few days of being in Rome

Me at the oldest road in the world, made out of volcanic rock, riding a bike around a big garden next to the road they call Appia Antica.
